Children after Elizabeth born Cumberland County, PA IMMIGRATION: Adam is the immigrant ancestor, first in the line to come to America, probably in the fall of 1754. He and Nancy settled in S. Middleton/Middletown Township, Cumberland County, PA, about 1754. They both died there. When Adam, his wife, and his grandson, Thomas, died, there were several legal proceedings such as Powers of Attorney and Orphans' Court hearings, which showed that JAMES RITCHEY was the eldest (child) , with preemption rights and that he was then living in Livingston County, KY. James' oldest son, Dr. Adam Ritchey, acted as his Attorney and went to PA to handle legal affairs for him. Adam apparently remained in PA from early 1808 to 1815. Ianthat baker had an original letter written by Adam to his father-in-law (who was also his uncle), Edward O'Hain, in York Courty, advising him of their safe return to Livingston Co., KY. Spelled his surname RITCHIE. Acording to information from Iantha Baker, Adam and Agness came to America in 1754 with their son, James, age two, and daughter, Elizabeth, born enroute to America on the Atlanntic Ocean,. The third child, John , was born in Cumberland County, APA, March 14, 1756, according to his Revolutionary War Pension Aplication, R8783, National Archives, the date being taken from his parent' family Bible. Will: The Will of Adam Ritchey, dated July 18, 1805, was proved on Feb. 9, 1805, in Cumberland County, PA. There, he identified himself as being of Middleton Township. The will and some accompanying material have a number of interesting features. In one section, he referred to his daughter, Elizabeth, wife of David Leester. In another section, he referred to William Leester, believed to be the son of David. FHL Film #571396 has Antrim Church records | RITCHIE, Adam (I30124596432)
