Germany, mother IL. . not employed. copy on file 1920 Census for California, Los Angeles Co., Los Angeles Township, Series T 625 Roll 116, p. 141 West Tenth St. Street # 1217, House # 4, line 14: Brown, Martha C. Head Rent, female, white 33, single b. Missouri Letter, Emma, partner, female, white 33, single b. IL In 1910 Census she was enumerated in the household of her brother, Albert. She was 22, single, working as telephone operator. According to Nancee Letter, wife of Jack, Emma never had any children. Interesting info re Tom Letter, Gainesville (near), tX, grandson of Albert and son of Elmer Letter. Emma Letter married Alford Joseph Galli out in CA. Apparently, Hilda and John Schoenborn came to CA also, as did Roland Wuertz, and possibly his mother, Emma Fietsam Wuertz. Alford Galli was somehow connected to the movie industry -- Tom Letter did not know exactly how, but thought he might have been an extra/stunt man/???? Emma started a poultry farm, raising chickens and turkeys. Tom said that during the 1930's she shipped a turkey back to his family. The turkey weight 75 lb (???) when it started the trip, and was considerably thinner when it arrived in IL. I have a copy of Emma's death certificate.
