Court Records, Book 1, p. 159 Transcript of Bill of sale of land, possessions, etc of Elizabeth Daniel, widow of Josiah, to her son Samuel, witnessed by Mitchell Daniel Elizabeth Daniel to Samuel Daniel Whereas Josiah Daniel having by his last will and testament did bequeath certain negros, a trac t of land, household and kitchen furniture to me Elizabeth Daniel widow of the sd Josiah for life, the following negroes Rachel and Ned and the tract of land where I now reside and all the household and kitchen furniture etc now this writing whereforth that I the said Elizabeth for and in consideration of the love and affection I have to my son Samuel Daniel and the sum of five hundred and forty dollars have delvlived unto him the said (???) all my right title and interest in and to the sd negroes land Household and Kitchen furniture etc and I bind myself my heirs etc to make any other conveeyance which he may deem necessary for vesting all my right title and interest in and to the said negroes land household and kitchen furniture in the sd Samuel. Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of Three Hundred dollars to me in hnd paid by Samuel Daniel of same county and state, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, have ////// (word crossed out) bargained sold and deliveered and by these presents do bargain sell & deliver unto the said Samuel Daniel a certain negro Woman named Mary, to have and to hold the said negro Mary unto the said Samuel Daniel his heirs and assigns foreveer, and I the said Elizabeth Daniel for myself my executors & administrators the said negro Woman unto the said Samuel Daniel his heirs executors and administrators against the lawful claim of all persons, shall & will warrant 7 forever defend these presents. In this document Elizabeth refers to her parents by name: Martin and Ann (???) KEY. Elizabeth Daniel to Samuel Daniel Whereas I elizabeth Daniel of Granville County and State of North Carolina have three or four hundred dollars or thereabout in the hands of (unclear -- could be Sammy, Lanny, Sonny) Key and John White representatives of my deceased father and Mother, Martin and Ann (unclear) Key of albermarle County and State of Virginia, and I have in my possession two rose blankets, one Dutch blanket, two weeding hoes and one potrack, one counterpaine, one undercupboard, one small table, one seegar box, one looking glass, half dozen earthen plates, one set knives and forks, one Dish, one set cups and saucers, crop of tobacco corn, etc. Now this writing witnesseth that I the said Elzabeth Daniel, for the affection I have for my son Samuel Danniel and the sum of five shillings have released to him the said Samuel Daniels all my right title and interest in and to the said money and above mentioned articles etc and I bind myself my heirs etc to make any other conveyance which the said Samuel Daniel may deem necessary for vesing him with all my right title and interest in and (blur) the said money and articles above mentioned.
